This is a wonderful Old Woven Bush Fiber Pig Dream Vehicle with Cowrie Shell eyes is and painted fiber from the Iatmul Tribe of the Sepik River, Papua New Guinea. Dream Vehicles are woven by women from rattan and hand spun string. They can be decorated with shell eyes and feathers. Pigs, birds, crocodiles and even helicopters are kept in the rafters for the spirit to travel in while one sleeps. A very common motif, represent wild pigs. They are very strong and can thrash their way through the thickest bush, so if someone had to make a journey through the jungle, he might want a pig. They are made by the women and are used to teach clan stories and aid clan members through dreams and requests.
