This is a fabulous Tribal Middle Eastern Vintage Nuristan Embroidered Wedding Dress that has beautiful silver amulets, pendants and exquisite embroidery. The detail and craftsmanship in this wedding dress is extraordinary! Living in the remote valleys along the upper Indus river, the women of Kohistan district may spend several long winter months making a dress such as this one which is lavishly embroidered in tent stitch and satin stitch using silk thread on a black cotton cloth ground. It features a full skirt and is embellished with beads, buttons, metal trinkets, amulets and pendants and gorgeous embroidery all over the front. These kinds of trinkets are used extensively in Kohistani embroidery. In addition to providing decoration, they act as charms to avert evil from the wearer. The vintage dress is original and old, handcrafted by intricately crafted tribal people using their textiles, embroidery and jewelry making skills. The dress was collected in the field and has been worn. Being worn over the years, their are some spots, small tears, as well as missing pieces of the embroidery and silver amulets. Also, this dress has been repaired, and has some discoloration, and fraying around the collar. The dress still looks fabulous!
