This is an old Gourd with fiber around the top and a biluim string used to secure it around their waist. This style of gourd is the original and worn by the men of Papua New Guinea. Penis gourds (Phallocrypts) were once the main clothing of many New Guinea men. Now they are worn only ceremonially although in some areas it is still the preferred mode of dress is fastened around the waist with bilum string and worn over the penis at a jaunty angle.
