This is a simple beautifully tightly woven Belt made from using hand woven Bush Fiber from the Sepik Region of Papua New Guinea. This belt is made with Bush Fibers with a colorful diamond pattern with bush string ties. The "bush" rope used to weave the belt is made from 100% natural fiber using the traditional technique of hand rolling plant fibers into twine over the knee. The process is carried out by women who then weave them into a variety or bilums or belts. This is a man's dance belt used in ceremonies and special occasions. In some occasions when a family member dies, a female relative will make a belt worn to indicate they are in mourning. After the morning period, these belts are put away and they will wear again on the anniversary of their death. This is a unique and beautiful fiber belt that would be lovely addition to your collection.
