This is a wonderful Old Kuba Long Knife from the Ngbandi Tribe in The Democratic Republic of the Congo. This knife has a long g blade with a wooden handle. The blade is made from forged iron that would enable to slice away plant life. The knife is which is a was meant for hooking away shields. The addition of the handle made it easier to use and also be a utilitarian knife. This authoritative knife was as a an agricultural implement. They later developed into luxury items to provide symbols of status. The knife was collected in the field and shows age and has a wonderful encrusted patina.
