This mask represents spirits. Talipun in pidgin means bride-prices and the Boiken people from the Yangoru village of Prince Alexander Mountains are best known for those trade valuables consisting of small, woven-cane masks or figures. The Talipun Mask is a highly valued and used in ceremonial exchange as a Bride Price or as compensation for inter-clan or tribal warfare. This traditional mask is one of the most important forms of currency. This is a fabulous and unique Talipun double woven mask and would be a wonderful addition to your home and collection.
