This is a fabulous ceremonial Dog Teeth Pectoral Chest Adornment from the Yangoru Boiken People of the East Sepik Province,Papua New Guinea. The old dyed red, yellow and blue plant fiber pectoral is adorned with dog’s teeth and nassa sea shells. This pectoral pr necklace would have been worn as a sign of prestige and wealth, and worn during public ceremonies and celebrations. Dog's Teeth were used for currency or when buying a bride, compensation and land payment and buying pigs, and were worn only by men of status in a village.
