This beautiful African Carved Wood Container would be used by the Pokot and Turkana people of Northern Kenya. This message or storage container was carved by the Pokot women using traditional tools made from the Acacia Trees. These containers were treasured, mended when broken, and used for years. They were used as message containers, storage of personal items and play a vital role in these societies. These containers are carried everywhere and is one of the most important elements of their everyday life. The leather cord is attached to secure the cowhide caps on both ends and help carry it easily.
