This is a unique Beaded Zulu Dance Stick from South Africa. Dance is an integral part of the African culture where lessons are taught and festivals are celebrated with song and dance. Many african tribes celebrate these occasions with a dancing stick. The dances are largely participatory, were spectators partake in the performance and don the relevant attire. Traditional dress, sticks, face paint and song are unique but each has a role in defining the tribe and the celebration. We celebrate the african culture of dance with these intricately and finely beaded dancing sticks. They are hand made by the Zulu beader's in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. Their work is absolute perfection allowing you to add African heritage to your home or office with these striking pieces steeped in cultural history. Dance has been important to maintain a sense of group solidarity, during times of stress, joy and change. Musical instruments were not used in most traditional Zulu dances. Dance has always had great ritual value in the life of Zulu. There are a number of occasions in Zulu culture ceremonial procedures are called for like when a boy or girl reaches puberty, specific songs are sung. Also, at weddings, the two parties is portrayed by an elaborate dancing competition that has become incredibly important. In the past, when hunting was still common, dancing also had ritual value before hunting. The hunting dance symbolizes bravery required to hunt by imitating movements of hunters. The dance is performed during ceremonies before hunters go out. Sticks are used in the dance to avoid injury from spears. This is a wonderful Zulu beaded dance stick that would compliment your collection or home.
