This is a wonderful Old Brass Bowl that come from Zanzibar, which is situated on the Swahili Coast, adjacent to Mainland Tanzania. This come from an apothecary shop in Zanzibar and it held medicinal healing herbs and spices. The Islands do produce cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and black pepper. They were under British Rule at one time, so they could of come through The East India Trading Company. This are old and quite interesting. This bowl would be a wonderful addition to your collection or home.
