This is a very Dramatic and Unique Carved Wood Totem Figure with a Woven Fiber Back is from the Andingmai Tribal People of the Angoram Village, Sepik River Region, Papua New Guinea. This mask carving consisting of an Andingamai figure with human and animal characteristics with clan symbols and figures representing ancestors on the head and nose, and sides. Their are birds on both sides of the figure with a carved crocodile head at top with a human face carved on the top as well as the bottom. The crocodile is embracing the face and length of the figure with a with a spirit face carved underneath it and surrounded by a rattan frame at the top. Lower Sepik carvings are usually male. Faces are oval with beaked noses and diagonal eyes. Carvers use more detail when they often refer directly or indirectly to ancestor or clan spirits and totems such as pig, cassowary, crocodile, eagle, or a water and bush bird. This is a wonderfully carved mask with beautiful great detail. This mask would be a lovely addition to your home or collection.

Returns are welcome after 3 days, please contact me upon arrival of package, and shipped within 7 days. They must be returned in the same condition that they were purchased in.
