This is a fabulous very Old ‘Bible’ of the The Psalm of David, in the Ethiopian Christian Church. Parchment leaves (animal skin) inscribed with black and red in the Ethiopian script on both sides. Probably in ‘Geez’, the language of the Ethiopian Church. Bound between two book covers made of wood. On the outside of one of the covers is a flap of linearly embossed leather. The ‘Bible’ is placed in a ruddy-colored leather sleeve that is geometrically/linearly embossed. The sleeve itself is enclosed in a slipcase made of older leather and all supported by carrier straps. The slipcase shows some original repairs (stitches). Overall, all parts of the Bible reveal an impressive old quality and usage with a beautiful patina. This bible is from the the early 1900's, and is museum quality and a rare one of a kind item that would complement your collection or home.
Shows age, has some repairs, like stitching holding the straps together on the sides, has a wonderful patina, but in overall good condition. Museum Quality
