An amazing Old and rare wood comb with a standing female figures as a handle. Decorated with geometric carvings,the Akan speaking women of Ghana include the Anyu, Baule, and Fante. All these women use wooden hair combs both for combing hair and for decoration and adornment. Combs are obtained as gifts from admirers or presented at marriage. Large bridal combs were prestigious and used to adorn the home. Depending on a woman's wealth or beauty she might own three or four. This is wonderful example of a Baule comb, and would be a wonderful Gift or for your own collection.
