This is a wonderful Woven Talipun Crown Mask from the Boiken People from the Yangoru Village of the Prince Alexander Mountains in Papua New Guinea. This mask represents spirits. Talipun in pidgin means bride-prices and the Boiken people from the Yangoru village of Prince Alexander Mountains are best known for those trade valuables consisting of small, woven-cane masks or figures attached to carefully cut spiral section of the shell. The Talipun is a highly valued and used in ceremonial exchange as a Bride Price or as compensation for inter-clan or tribal warfare.
