This is a wonderful Hand Carved Wood Sword from the the middle Sepik River Region, Black Water Lakes Papua New Guinea. Sepik carvings are done by the men in the village. Carvers highlight incised geometric detail, as you can see on this sword. In Papua New Guinea it is only men who would use this and they must have been initiated into the cult that produces the the villages ceremonial objects. This fabulous wood Sword and would be a wonderful addition to your collection or home.
