African Red Clay Camel Statue Samburu Kenya

$14.40

This is a Vintage African Samburu Red Painted Clay Camel with a Woven Basket to Carry materials to build a tribal hut. The Samburu are from Kenya and are semi-nomadic pastoralists who herd mainly cattle but also keep sheep, goats and camels. Camels play a vital role in the Samburu way of life and culture. The Samburu are highly dependent on their livestock for survival. Camels have the potential to be more valuable than cows, they produce more milk, are more tolerant of drought, feed from plants that aren’t attractive to wildlife (therefore do not compete for food), and have hooves that don’t cause soil erosion. They can also carry large loads to build their huts and homes, considering they are nomadic tribal people. This camel represents a very important animal to the Samburu Tribe of Kenya. This is a wonderful camel with its hut building materials on its back. This would be a unique item to display in your home or to add to your collection.
