This is an Old Africa Wood and Leather Meat Container "Eburi" in Turkana. Lacking refrigerators, the Turkana fry their meats and store them in these containers.The containers vary in size and shape. The container is usually made from wood, and sometimes is covered in cowhide and fur. These containers usually have a twisted leather strap attached to the cowhide lid. Some of these containers have etched markings and designs as well. The Turkana are well known artisans and always take much pride in their craft.
