This a wonderful Old Wooden Telefomin Doorboard from Papua New Guinea. Exquisitely carved and highly decorative, these doors come from the Telefomin area of Papua New Guinea, located in the Star Mountains near the upper reaches of the Sepik River in the Sanduan Province. These carved and painted doors are constructed to allow access to one person at a time. Security and climate control of the dwelling is the reason for the unusual shape. The Telefomin are famous for their fine carved doorboards that decorate the fronts of most of their houses. A Great addition to your home of collection.
