This is Sago Pin from Maprik Wosera Abelam Tribe East Sepik a region of Papua New Guinea. They are used to hold the screen for washing the sago cultivated from the Sago tree, which is a main staple in the diet of tribes in Papua New Guinea. The carved clan symbols guard against evil masalai getting into the Sago. A wonderful unique piece for any collection.
