Papua New Guinea Ambelam Wood Digging Stick

Sorry, this item has sold.

This a beautifully Carved Old Wood Digging Stick from the Abelam People of the Sepik Region of Papua New Guinea. The front side of the dagger has a beautiful motif carved in relief with a Bird on Top. Wood is recognized as a metaphor for strength, and with a narrow range of material to be used, wood has become very valuable. This would be a lovely addition to your collection.
