Rainsticks have been used for centuries in ceremonial rituals by various tribes of South America to bring rain to the badly needed areas of the Atacama desert in northern Chile. When the rainstick is slightly tilted, small pebbles inside the cactus trickle down through sharp thorns to re-create the sound of rain. These rainsticks are made by Chilean craftsmen and are guaranteed to be of the finest quality and sound.

The rainstick was smaller than I thought so the sound moves through the pics quickly but still a nice quality

This arrived surprisingly quickly. I was also surprised, given that it's a shorter stick, at the quality and length of the tone you can get from it. The cactus wood is not "finished," in the sense that the wood is left raw with no gloss. I love it all the more for it, and the sound is absolutely gorgeous.
