This is a unique Ashanti Beaded Fertility Doll from Ghana. Ashanti Dolls are wooden carved fertility dolls and are a general symbol of good luck and health. Traditionally a woman would wear the Ashanti doll on her back hoping to conceive a child or that her current child would be born healthy. They have a large round head and are very popular around the world. These dolls were played with like a Barbie Doll and would be fed, bathed and carried like an infant, imparting important parenting skills on the young girls who use them.
