This Hand Carved beautiful Round Burnished Wood Star Bowl created by the Ifugao people of Ifugao Province,Central Island of Luzon, Philippines. This bowl and others like it would have played an important part in everyday Ifugao life. Most ordinary folk ate their rice out of a common bowl or dished out into small, plain personal bowls, but men of high status among the Ifugao eat from carved wooden bowls. The bowls are usually round and carved out of a cross section of a tree trunk called Yemane (Gmelina) wood. Ifugao wood bowls were made in various sizes, some with scalloped edges and they are referred to as a Star Bowls. A wonderful item for your home or collection.
