This is a beautiful Vintage Hand Woven Rattan Rice Basket from the Lombok Region of Indonesia. Lombok was colonized, first by the Balinese and then by the Dutch. Many Balinese families still live on the island and they do some of the weaving of the beautiful baskets. Lombok is the first island east of Bali, but it is quite different. The climate is drier and the channel between the two islands is deep, which helps to create a wonderful habitat for the growing of rattan. These Lombok Island utilitarian plated baskets with wooden bases is used for picking coffee or as a basket purse. This basket has so many uses and is beautiful in color and design.
