This is a wonderful Antique Pair of African Masai Copper Mindo Men's Ear Weights from Kenya. This Copper Mindo ear weight was worn by an elder man in the Masai Society. The art of Ear stretching has been with the Masai Tribe for thousands of years. Different stretching methods have been documented, from using weight to elongate the lobes, to stretching with increasingly larger pieces of tusk, wood, stone, thorn, and even film canister. The older tribe members tend to have larger spaced lobes as they get weighed down and more stretched over the years. This would be a wonderful item to di creative jewelry designs as well as being a collectors item. These old Mindo weights are hard to find.
