This is a beautiful Chinese Box with a beautiful red velvet lining and an exquisite Old Chinese Porcelain Shard Lid. These Porcelain Shards way of preserving Chinese culture and history. During the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) it was illegal to keep antique porcelain at home. People broke their porcelain vases and antiques and threw them away, for fear of being sent to prison. At the end of the revolution this family began to collect the broken pieces of antique porcelain and tried to bring them to life again. Around 1983-1985 the Shard Box was created. Shard Boxes are a traditional art form. This a large beautiful Shard box and could be used for so many things, not to mention as lovely ornamentation in your home or a lovely git to give to someone.
