This is a beautiful three-level Antique Chinese Wedding Basket with a locking stick. The top tray is a small on that fits into the top of the middle tray. A "Wedding Basket" was used to deliver gifts of food to newlyweds on the wedding day. It is made from split bamboo and closely woven willow fiber. Each layer has a wooden base. The walls and top of the box are composed of two separate layers of weaving, which provides strength and rigidity. The basket bottoms and lids have Chinese characters written on them. It has a brass handle and brass fasteners on the sides for strength. The bamboo sides of this wedding basket have Chinese characters written on it.
