These are old African bronze statue Currency weight (mrammou) comes from the Akan/Ashanti People of Ghana in West Africa. This is a very unique and hard to find is made of bronze and made during the late 17th and 18th centuries. They were originally used prior to the paper money systems. They were used to weigh out gold dust. This mrammou usually depicted proverbs and symbols, that held cultural significance within the Akan culture.
