This is a beautiful and unique Hand Carved and Painted Ancestor Mask from the Iatmul Tribe, Korogo Village, Middle Sepik, Papua New Guinea. This mask has the elongated form with a broad forehead and flared nostrils with an arched element extending downwards over the pursed lips and connecting to the chin. The face is highlighted with pigment with curvilinear designs, enhancing the mask's overall mysterious presence. This mask has the powers of the ancestors and is considered to be a guardian mask to protect the residents of the village. This would be a fabulous mask to add to your home or collection
