This is a Beautiful Carved Luba Female Figure from the Tribal People of Zaire. Among the characteristics of Luba sculpture are intricate hair-dress with a grooved diagonal band separating the hair-line from the forehead; eyes shaped like coffee-beans and small simplified ears. Women were cult guardians, and the royal wives played an important role in this. Statues were also placed at the entry to the house during the childbirth. A wonderful Luba statue to add to your collection or home.
Shows age, has a nice patina, and is in good condition.
