This is a wonderful Carved Wood Lobi Fetish Statue Sitting on a bench from Burkina Faso. Bateba or Bouthiba are considered alive and sacred beings. Fetish dolls are used as a link between the visible and invisible world. This doll would be used for rituals and ceremonies. The relationship of the Lobi with the divinities and more particularly the Thila (supernatural spirits) will be done thanks to the mediation of the Bateba , to the rhythm of the revelations made by the seers. This Bateba is made of wood by village artisans. As soon as they are placed on an altar or consecrated to the supernatural spirits, they are considered as living and active beings. They can then see and communicate with each other, move and thus protect and help people in their daily lives. The statues Lobi Bateba or Bouthiba , the remedies that murmur obscure words are living and sacred beings, real marks of union between the real world and that of the afterlife. This would be a wonderful statue to add to your collection.
