This is a wonderful Baule Hand Carved Colonial Figure Slingshot from the Ivory Coast. Slingshots are popular throughout Africa. They are usually associated with the major carving cultures of Baule. This shape and carving of this figure is associated with a fertility doll carried by the girls and women. Since slingshots are almost always carried by young males this figure is female and quite unique.This is a beautiful representation of the skill and art of wood carving.
