This is a Fabulous Carved Wood Ifugao Bulu Animal Figure Stool from the Igorot People of Norther Luzon, Philippines. A Bulul is a carved wooden figure used to guard the rice crop by the Igorot people. These sculptures are highly stylized representations. Bulul's whether in a statue or a stool or bench are used in ceremonies associated with rice production and with healing. Bulul's are handed down to the first child of a family. This would be wonderful and unique piece of Ifugao art to add to your collection or home.
