This is a nicely styled Turkana milking jug from the Turkana tribe of Kenya. This jug is carved out of acacia wood and this milk container has a leather strap for carrying. This type of African artifact is not one of a ritual nature but an item that would be of everyday use. A vessel of this type would be used to contain milk from the herds of goats or cattle. This milking jug has evidence of extensive use as it has cracks around the top. and one in the bottom. The Turkana are well known artisans and always take much pride in their craft.
