This is a beautiful round leather handmade and hand tooled box from the Tuareg tribe of Mali. The Tuareg are a Berber people with a traditionally nomadic Pastoral lifestyle. They are the principal inhabitants of the Saharan interior of North Africa, in the Saharan parts of Niger, Mali, and Algeria. Leather covered boxes are a traditional Tuareg craft with their typical hand tooled Tuareg designs, ball knob, wooden frame covered with decorated leather, inside and out.
