This is a lovely old hand carved Dayak NGAJU Ancestral Tribal Figure of The Dayak or Dyak.This fabulous Dayak Amulet comes from the Benu'aq Tribes of Eastern Borneo and is carved out of iron wood that has a black shiny patina. The name DAYAK is a loose term for over 200 riverine and hill-dwelling ethnic subgroups, located principally in the interior of Borneo, each with its own dialect, customs, laws, territory and culture. The Dayak were animist in their belief.
This necklace is stung on black waxed linen cord with assorted Bone beads, Horn beads and Tree seeds. A real collectors item and a part of Dayak history.
