This is a unique African Black White Patterned Soapstone Pendant with an African Red Skunk Bead and assorted Glass all strung on waxed linen cord. Soapstone carvings are hand made in Kenya. Soapstone is actually a variety of talc, a soft mineral of a soapy feel and a greenish, whitish, or grayish color. Soapstone is a soft rock, about half the way between chalk and marble and its easy to carve and porous so it can absorb coloring and dyes. The soapstone is first immersed into water so that it is easier to mold and carve. Once the stone is dry it will stay in its solid form. This cord necklace is fun, lightweight and a little bit of African Culture. A great gift for a man or woman.
