This is a beautiful Hand Woven African Reed Basket from the women living in the Singida Region of Central Tanzania. These baskets or "Kisonzo" are woven with natural or dyed reeds that grow along the river banks. The word ''Kisonzo" refers to a single basket. This basket is made by women of the Wanyiramba and Wanyaturu tribes as an extra income after harvesting their food and cash crops in the fields. The Baskets they create come in different sizes and colors. This was collected in the field. Baskets are always decorative in homes and collections as well being functional. This basket would also be a lovely gift.
