This female has the beautiful body and markings associated with the Senufo carvers. The angular jaw, the extended hairstyle, and her breasts have the traditional scarification patterns. Most of the Senufo female sculptures connotes fertility. As a member of the primordial couple, this figure and her male counterpart would have been taken out for funeral processions, to honor the deceased as they entered the spiritual realm.
