This is a wonderful Red Oval Shaped Copal African Amber Beaded Bracelet with silver discs and a Sterling Silver Toggle Clasp. I made Ethnic Jewelry for 25 years and I used this wonderful copal amber in many of my designs. Copal is a natural resin, much like amber, but it is said to age differently. It is not as old and has not been polymerized as amber, nor is it as hard and durable. It takes millions of years for the resin to harden to amber. When the resin is younger than one million years, it is called copal, a product traded as raw material for varnish and lacquer before the modem synthetic products were developed. Copal amber beads have always been highly prized in West Africa, especially among the Fulani people. This unique bracelet with the oval and barrel shaped copal red amber beads is lovely and would make a wonderful gift for that special someone.
