This is a beautiful Vintage Strand of Red and White Red Molded Cube Kakamba Beads from Nigeria. Kakamba beads are bohemian or Czechoslovakian pressed glass beads that were made in the early 1900's and were worn and traded in Africa.
They are a type of African trade bead which were popularly used and widely distributed all over the continent. Also referred to as “Prosser beads”, Kankamba beads were crafted from glass and ceramic using the technology from a button-making machine invented by the two Prosser brothers of Bohemia in the 1830s. These highly prized and very unique cube beads would be wonderful in all your creative designs.
