This is a beautiful African Red Blue Beaded Necklace with Buttons and Gold Decorative Pieces of Gold Tin with Yellow and Green trim dangling off the bottom from the Oromo People of Ethiopia. The Oromo people constitute the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia. Their original homeland, Oromia, included most of what is now Ethiopia and stretched into northern Kenya, where some Oromos still live. These necklaces are created with a combination of miniature glass beads, buttons, tin, wood, leather thong and vintage resin. The white heart glass beads would have come from Europe to the region through traders visiting markets in East Africa. Women of this tribe do beautify themselves wearing elaborate jewelry and made of multi colored beads. This would be a fabulous item for your home and collection.
I am offering fabulous African Masks, Statues, Beads and Jewelry that I purchased from a private collection. These items were collected in the field 25 years ago.
