This is fabulous Old Large Clam Shell Armband or Bracelet with Woven Plant Fiber comes from Papua New Guinea. Clam Shell rings or Bracelets are cut with bamboo knives from giant clam shells. These shells are Traded in coastal villages. Yua means money and Wenga are the clam rings. These rings are still being cut and used in ceremonies and exchanges. They could also be use for a Brides-Price and worn as wealth status or for bartering. Still in use today. A wonderful addition to your collection.
