This is a Wonderful Old Yam Ceremony Decoration from the Abelam People of Papua New Guinea. This woven round piece on a spike was attached to giant yam during the yam ceremony held each year in the Wosera area. The entire center is woven with plant fiber in a circular pattern on the black palm stick. On some occasions even worn in their hair for decoration. This stick ornaments made for yam ceremonies are one of a kind. A wonderful and unique item to add to your collection or home.
