The Nassa shells are attached and sewn onto a palm fiber, which is a leaf fiber (hard fiber) obtained from the leaves of the dwarf palm and is then is backed with beaten bark cloth. Both sides are covered with the Nassa Shells. This is an extraordinary piece of Papua New Guinea art and would compliment your collection or home.
