This is wonderful Vintage Chinese Red Lacquered Water Bucket from China. The Chinese designed an elaborate array of wooden and woven baskets, boxes, and buckets to carry and store things. Some were styled around specific uses, such as, picnics, carrying fish, rice, or water. Some were used for special occasions like carrying "sweets" to a wedding party or a Chinese New Year celebrations.
This hand painted water bucket is the traditional bucket that hangs on a yoke and is used to transport water, grains and food stuffs. This would be a lovely addition to your collection or home.
