This is a Vintage African Carved Ebony figures, from the Makonde Tribe of Tanzania. Ebony is an exceptionally hard and dense black beautiful wood found in East Africa. In Africa it is also known as “Mpingo”. The Makonde artisans use this wood to make these fabulous balancing statues known as "Sarakai" which means acrobat in Swahili. Their artistic output is both traditional and contemporary. When finished, the carvings are polished and the wood quite literally shines. This a fabulous ebony carved acrobatic statues that truly would be a wonderful addition to your collection.

I love it! This statue has delicate and perfect proportions and is what I was looking for for a bedside table. The item was well package and was received in a timely manner. Highly recommend shop.

Haha!. I didn't pay close enough attention to the description. My mistake! It was MUCH smaller than what I was expecting, but again my mistake. The sculpture itself is beautiful. It's so beautiful . . . wish it was bigger! :)
