This is a beautiful Painted and Etched Black and White Calabash ( gourd) from the Kamba People in the Lowlands of Southeast Kenya. In Africa calabash vessels were used for many practical purposes.The African calabash is product of a gourd plant. According to the history of the African calabash, this item is used by many communities. Today, for instance, the calabash is still used widely. Originally, it was used as a food holder or to make musical instruments. In the history of the calabash. it was among the very first crops that man cultivated. This decorated gourd has helped the African tribal community and economy. This would be a beautiful addition to your collection or home.
