This is a wonderful Carved Wood Lobi Female Statue from Burkina Faso. This statue is used as a link between the visible and invisible world, and it would be used for rituals and ceremonies. The relationship of the Lobi with the divinities and more particularly the Thila (supernatural spirits) will be done thanks to the mediation of the Bateba. As soon as they are placed on an altar or consecrated to the supernatural spirits, they are considered as living and active beings. They can then see and communicate with each other, move and thus protect and help people in their daily lives. This would be a wonderful statue to add to your collection.
