This is a wonderful Lobi Hand Carved Female Slingshot from Burkina Faso in Mali. Slingshots are popular throughout West Africa. They are usually associated with the major carving cultures of Burkina Faso. This shape and carving of this figure is associated with the Mossi fertility doll carried by the girls and women. Since slingshots are almost always carried by young males this figure is female and quite unique.This is a beautiful representation of the skill and art of wood carving. This would be a wonderful item for your collection or home.
